Ralph Waldo Emerson said this: “Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.” I adore this wisdom. In this New Year can we let the words truly permeate our heart and soul? Can we begin with this way?
January 1 is always ripe for a new start – and yet we often commit to too much all at once. My recommendation is to think of one thing you have been wanting to do or change in your life – just one. And commit to this ‘one thing’ for the next month. When that change sticks then add in another one.
Change just ONE thing in your life,
and commit to it today and every day.
We tend to put things off till tomorrow, till next week; “I will stop drinking coffee on Monday.’ And the old saying is true here, ‘tomorrow never comes.’ All we have control of is today and the present moment.
My ‘one thing’ this month (year) is to consistently breathe deeply every single day – all day. The way I remind myself is post-it notes everywhere. I place them in every room of my home; in the doorways, in the car, above the kitchen sink, on mirrors, beside the toilet – everywhere I glance during the day. I even have one on the ceiling above my bed. It is the first thing I see when I wake up. Try it!
That’s my simple achievable advice for this New Year. Please choose one thing. Make it easy so you can feel successful. Do it right now as you read this. Get out those post-it notes and pens. Make them colourful and prominent in your home and workspace. And have fun!
I wish you an abundant New Year filled with much love, passion and adventure. As always I am here to support you in this life journey – and welcome your feedback.
