Have you ever tried to make positive changes in your life? Have they worked? Have they “stuck?” In other words – were the changes permanent and long lasting? Or did you feel a shift initially, only to discover you reverted back to your old habits again? Impatience, weight loss, eating well, exercise, trauma, sleep, chronic pain, are all examples of areas I frequently work with my clients to change.
We read books about how to do this and how to do that. We attend workshops, we seek out therapists and many healing modalities – only to find perhaps that we feel great – and then it all comes back again – so we try something else and something else. Years go by and we may even feel a bit better but we feel like we are back to square one again over and over – the weight is back, the pain has returned, we have stopped exercising etc.
I am going attempt to shed some light on why we find it so challenging to sustain real change. When we understand the concept of energy and how all things are made of pure energy in different forms, we can begin to formulate our answers. The human body, a tree, your desk, your shoes, your food are all energy. Anything you place under a microscope is energy, either moving slowly enough for the human eye to detect, or so quickly we cannot detect it in the same way. We may feel energy – the way we know someone is angry with us, or upset about something. Even if they say everything is fine we ’know” something is off. We can feel this energy – it is intangible, we may not see it as we would a chair, but it is just as real.
Our thoughts, emotions, chronic pain, trauma, grief loss, etc are all examples of energy can cannot see but are very real indeed. Throughout our life we have many types of experiences – some less than positive. So how did we handle these situations? Did we heal it? Is it something we buried at the time? When we begin to really understand the root cause we can begin to heal it – I don’t mean digging around for years in therapy…I mean dealing with the “energy” aspect of our life’s experiences. Then we can truly move on and experience real change that is sustained.
Think of an oak chair; every few years you pick a paint colour and give it another coat of paint. One year you decide you want to restore the original lustre to the wood underneath. You can see a bit of the grain through the paint, but the rich colour is gone. What to do? We begin to strip away the layers – each colour comes off in order of the colour we painted it. That is how our healing takes place…layer by layer until our original lustre is returned. The lustre in this case being your joy, happiness, wellness, positive body image and overall wellness.
As humans we are the oak chair…at some point our original lustre shone brightly…life and it’s experiences changed that – perhaps dulled our finish or covered up our glow…and now we actually think this is who are. We are stuck with our negative thoughts, emotions or responses – we think the pain will always be there, we can’t ever truly heal.
A big part of the reason nothing seems to stick is because it is buried in the subconscious part of who we are. Attempting to figure it out with the conscious mind is not as efficient – we cannot access the ‘why’ from this place.
Let’s look at an iceberg: the 5% we can see is the tip of the iceberg (or the conscious mind) and the 95% that is buried under water can be compared to the subconscious mind. Our subconscious mind is like a database that stores all of our experiences, thoughts, emotions, and memories. The sessions I offer work to access and search the entire ‘database’ in your mind to release whatever you are working on right from the root cause.
I encourage you to come and do some work with me…let’s strip away the layers and get you back to your original amazing self.
I wish you an abundant summer filled with much love, passion and adventure. As always I am here to support you in this life journey – and love your feedback.
