Have you reflected on how your life was before the pandemic and how it is now? How could we not do so right? Many aspects of our life have changed dramatically. For me, I didn’t realize how precious freedom was. Seeing friends, going out for dinner, gathering with colleagues to network and collaborate, taking part in fundraising activities and taking vacations.
One of the big things I realized was how important my daily practices were for my self-care and mental health. It has been a confusing time for us all. Hard to imagine our futures, make plans and have goals. But we do have to forge ahead. We really do. This helps us to stay present and stay healthy.
Which is why I chose to talk to you about an amazing energy healing practice this week; Reiki.
Reiki is one of the self-care tools I learned for myself over 20 years ago, and after learning this practice and seeing the results in my mental, emotional, physical and spiritual growth I knew I had to share this practice with others. I have now taught all levels of Reiki classes since 2003. It took me a few years of offering private sessions to be ready to teach. What a journey it has been to witness the amazing shifts for those who have come for sessions or classes with me; such a blessing indeed.
A few examples of the shifts that have occurred for others: healing chronic pain (especially back pain), letting go of depression and anxiety, healing old emotional wounds, letting go of grief, moving through a divorce or loss with more ease, working through the disease process (sometimes with spontaneous healings) and so much more.
During the pandemic it has been incredibly important to clients that work with me to move through the intense stressors and worries in this past year.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is experienced through the hands by a flow of healing energy. The hands are placed in designated areas of the body while fully clothed. The hand positions are either on the body or slightly above. The energy establishes a more balanced flow within the body and goes to where it is needed most. It works to balance the energies within the body and induce a deep state of relaxation, which triggers the body’s natural ability to heal itself. It triggers the body’s parasympathetic system, which is the rest and repair part of our nervous system, which is why it is excellent for stress.
How does it feel?
One may experience sensations, such as, warmth, tingling, heat, calm, peace and most people fall asleep. Results may not always be evident right away either. The healing may take place over a few days, while on other occasions the results may be immediate.
How does it work?
It works on the energetic level. As it flows through and breaks up the blocks and restrictions, it allows a normal healthy flow of Ki to begin to take place in those areas.
Nourishes organs and tissues so they become balanced again. It Restores a natural, normal healthy flow of life force. It is like acupuncture without needles.
The Reiki energy works with that innate part of us that knows where healing needs to take place. It is our biological intelligence that promotes the healing of a cut finger or a broken bone. Reiki simply amplifies this process. Reiki really promotes the highest healing good for us, which also serves to boost our immune system and prevent us from getting ill. This energy can help to bring things like emotional trauma to the surface to be released.
I encourage you to book a remote healing session or online workshop to get your self-care on track – it truly is an epic practice!
