I created my book Whispers of the Soul as a tool to stay inspired each day over the year. It’s the perfect time of year to begin. Read on to find out more about it, and why it is important to read something like this every day for one year.
You can turn the power of possibility into reality. The truth
is this – you have the innate ability to consciously shape your life. You really do! By learning to understand the power of your thoughts, words, actions and beliefs you can begin to take the steps that move your life forward.
Doing something every day creates long-term change. We now know the brain is changeable. You will literally be rewiring your brain and creating new neural pathways each time you repeat something, until it becomes a habit. Just like old habits that have been repeated and become entrenched over time, this healthy daily practice will create new positive habits and changes in your life.
Find a time to read this every day: ideally before you begin your day. Make it a habit just like brushing your teeth every morning. You would never begin your day without this essential cleansing process. If the morning simply does not work, set it beside your bed for a peaceful way to drift off. The subconscious mind is most impressionable in the waking up and falling asleep times. Read it at both times for the best results.
I have made it easy for you too! No homework, no exercises – but a commitment to read each day and embrace the meaning. Open your mind and heart to allow the message to sink in deeply. We use our conscious mind to send messages to the subconscious mind, which is where the shift/change actually occurs. Daily repetition makes the power behind the messages stronger. We are not always aware of the negative thought patterns that permeate our thoughts all day. These silent hostile messages are damaging thoughts we repeat over and over again to ourselves. They might occur when we have made a mistake, feel ashamed, can’t lose weight, feel unhealthy, and are unhappy with our work or relationships.
The accumulation of these messages has a negative effect on our lives and overall wellness. By refocusing our thoughts in a positive direction we have a brilliant opportunity to reframe and change from the inside. The inside changes will then be reflected in outer life experiences. We begin to move forward in the direction of personal choice – not the direction that came from family, teachers, school and the media as we grew up.
We often don’t realize how deeply entrenched the messages are until we begin paying attention to our thoughts. When you begin the daily process you might feel overwhelmed and find this task daunting. This is perfectly normal. Change feels uncomfortable at first. We don’t recognize how full of negativity our mind is until we begin paying attention to it. It may even seem louder at first.
At first it may feel like a lot of work, but over time it will become easier and you will begin to love it and even look forward to it! I promise. We want to retrain the monkey mind with new affirming words that nourish and nurture; that inspire our personal growth and ability to manifest the life you love.
Through the power of your intention and commitment to growth and living an amazing life the changes will astound you. Think of each word as a tool for your transformation… like ingredients in a cake or tools to build a home. We need a variety – and there is a learning curve each time we embark on something new.
Be patient, have fun with it. We didn’t get where we are in a day. That’s why the book is a year. It has been said that you develop a habit in 28 days. Make a commitment to yourself and your happiness to try this for 28 days – after that it will become a habit you enjoy. Just think of what you can accomplish for yourself in one year!
You can go day by day, or remain on a page for a few days until you feel the message has been incorporated. You can go back. Get a bookmark and mark the page. Take a picture of it with your smartphone and set your timer to go off every now and then to remind you to reread it. In some areas I have created themes…so the new ideas begin to really stick.
Anything worth having takes time – and you ARE worth this!
