A new series of Kundalini Yoga classes begin again on January 19th for 15 weeks weekly via Zoom. Many of you have contacted me over the last several weeks asking great questions. This week’s ezine covers some of those key questions and answers. (keep in mind – if you interested you can join the first class free)
A few commonly asked questions about this style of Yoga:
Q: I am not flexible, can I still do Yoga?
A: The answer is YES you can. Much of this practice is seated with the eyes closed – and when it is online no one can see you and you can turn your video off and just watch me. (some people love this option) One other aspect of consider – Yoga is more of an inside job with much focus being on the spiritual aspect of who we are. Each week I discuss this in different ways.
With specific challenges I would prefer to chat with you beforehand to ensure you are set up with goods props, modifications etc.
Q: I have never done Yoga before, can I still take the next series of classes?
A; Yes! I start right from the beginning with each series; with the very first class being an introduction to ensure we are all on the same page. Each week I add in a bit more to ease us into the practice – especially after the holidays when we have been more sedentary.
Q: What does a typical class look like?
A: There is a similar structure and flow for each class. Breath work, mantra, mudra, physical movement, meditation and relaxation. The classes are 90 minutes.
Q: How will I feel after a class?
A: Relaxed, calm and centred. A great sleep that night is guaranteed! And each week I will send you what we covered in class; this way you can create a home practice if you wish.
Q: What makes Kundalini Yoga unique (that is, different from other styles/schools of yoga)? (Answer courtesy of KRI)
A: It’s efficiency and effectiveness—its power. Kundalini Yoga is quick. The changes you want to affect in your life happen much more quickly with Kundalini Yoga than many other styles of yoga. It’s variety of techniques and meditations are enormous, allowing the instructor to tailor programs that support the individual and her goals. It’s a safe way to stimulate the body’s natural resources and become healthy, happy, and holy—in body, mind and spirit. It’s a proven path to the Self and the Soul—to an experience of your highest destiny.
And a few more notes for you…
This style always includes breath work and focussed meditation, and is truly a spiritually based Yoga style designed to elevate you, raise your vibration, clear out old patterns and assist you in stepping more fully into your destiny physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
The way I have designed our class time is for some pre-class connection if you want to come into the Zoom room early, and we have the opportunity chat a bit afterward too – your choice. We are creating a wonderful connected online community together. It is always a blessing to connect with other like-minded people to form connections and to share experiences. I am online 30 minutes before class and another 15 or so minutes afterward for questions, comments, support and feedback…to help you get the most from the classes.
