We began the year by focusing on our internal environment with my recent articles discussing vision boards, how to set goals and keep them, and how to take good care of your body temple. This week our focus is on cleansing your outer environment.
Our external environment is a clear reflection of our inner environment. Our homes, office spaces and even our cars can provide us with some clues. If you have come to any of my classes you will hear me say: ‘everything is energy.’ If we want to clear some of our internal confusion we can begin by clearing our surroundings. When we create more space in the outer, we create more space within.
Back to energy – energy needs to move, it needs space. When you feel stuck in your life, confused or in need of clarity; move some things around in your home or office. This can provide you with a new way of looking at things – both literally and figuratively.
Have you ever walked into a store, a classroom, someone’s home or office space and felt uncomfortable? You are likely feeling the energy that is stuck and congested in that space. Here are some ways to being to move the clutter.
Let’s take a fresh look at your home:
Begin at your front door.
Take a slow walk through each room.
How do you feel in each room? What do you notice?
Begin the declutter process this way:
- remove and place all items back to where they need to go
- remove all items you need to throw away
- now decide what you want to keep, donate or sell (make 3 piles or get 3 boxes)
Now to cleanse your space:
You want to clear out all the energy of anyone who has been there, energy from arguments, emotions etc. and from used items you may have purchased and placed in any of the rooms. I like to burn white sage (often called smudging). The smoke from the fire is purifying. You can either place the white sage in a bowl or shell, and use a feather to move/wave the smoke into every corner of each single room, over the furniture and even around your entire body including your hair, palms of hands and bottoms of feet. (be careful!)
Make sure you open up all windows as you clear each area – this helps to keep the smoke detectors from going off.
Saying a cleansing prayer as you move through each room can help change the energy and vibration. (see an example below)
Now take another walk through and notice how you feel! Ideally your space feels lighter, more spacious and energetically positive! Einstein said this: “Out of clutter, find simplicity.”
Prayer for the Sacred In-Dwelling
Divine Grace is the substance and the activity of my home; Divine Grace is the consciousness of every individual who enters my home, whether family or friends. Nothing enters my home to contaminate or violate its sanctity because the state of being in Divine Grace is my only home. As long as my home appears on Earth as a material structure, it will express the harmony of Divine Grace. Those in that home will either reflect that harmony or they will be removed because nothing unlike Divine Grace can remain in my home –my temple, my being, my body. Anything of a discordant nature that would enter or might temporarily be permitted to enter, will be removed in perfect timing and in such a way that it will injure no one, but be a blessing to everyone involved.
Because Divine Grace is my consciousness, nothing can enter that consciousness that is out of Divine Grace. Even if in ignorance or out of compassion I permit something to enter, which has no place there, it will not long remain. The consciousness of Truth and Life, which I AM, will heal it or remove it. I AM willing that everybody and everything that enters my consciousness, and, therefore, my space, shall be either healed or removed. I shall not cling to anyone by saying, “With all your faults, I still need you and want you.” I take my stand with Divine Grace, and, if necessary, leave or allow to leave any family member or friend in order to dwell in the Sacred Place of the Most High.
I wish you an abundant 2018 filled with much love, passion and adventure. As always I am here to support you in this life journey – and welcome your feedback.
