Do you realize how many choices and decisions you make during your day? Have you ever stopped to consider how you make them? From the time you decide to get up in the morning you are making choices. Here are a few examples: you decide on the time to wake up; then when you do: do I hit snooze, do I exercise or continue sleeping?
Do I eat before I leave for work, or do I grab something on the way? Do I make a nutritious lunch or have I already done that the night before? Do I stop long enough to take a minute to set a positive intention for my day or do I allow others to dictate my mood and agenda? At work: do I attend to emails, phone calls, the pile of work in front of me, or do I go for a coffee instead? Do I make plans for dinner? On and on it goes.
It makes sense to make decisions based on what we need and what feels good, contributes to our overall wellness and pleasure in life. We may do things to look good in the eyes of others, to get something over with, make everyone else happy, take care of everyone else’s needs and ignore our own. Ask yourself if you are settling for less than what you truly desire in life, and if your heart singing? Life is simply way too short to live with regret.
Intuition helps us along our path in life. The way we make choices and decisions is primarily through our intuition, or we might call this gut instinct. Our inner guidance system and intuition can successfully guide decisions all day.
Intuition might be the little voice you hear that reminds you to take an umbrella in the morning even though the sun is shining brightly. The feeling that urges you to turn right instead of left at a stop sign. You may get an uncomfortable feeling about something and not heed it, only to find out later you were right all along. I think of it as my spidy senses tingling. You know something just doesn’t feel right.
Here are 3 approaches we can use to make choices and decisions:
1. Ask yourself this: which decision takes me further along my path, and which decision takes me further away from it?
2. Imagine scenarios in as much detail as you can. Take yourself through each possibility and tune in to how your body responds. Do you sense a feeling of lightness, excitement and joy? Or do you feel your stomach begin to churn and get tight? When you decide which scenario feels better to you – make a choice – then being to take one step at a time in the direction of your choice. Make a list and clearly visualize your future. This can be a powerful way to make your goals, dreams and choices a reality and begin to manifest in your life.
3. See if you can move out of the logical thinking mind and bring the awareness to your heart space. Now ask yourself the same questions or imagine the scenarios. The heart never lies, but the mind might try to talk us out of things we feel and know are right.
Trust in your own divine inner guidance. It will always be faithful, always be true, and always guide you along your true path. The more you connect with yourself, the more you will be able to access the knowledge you hold in your heart. It is not just in some of us; it is in each one of us.
“When I’m trusting and being myself as fully as possible, everything in my life reflects this by falling into place easily, often miraculously.” ~Shakti Gawain
